OBITUARY NOTICE
Tommy Dickson
YORK – Dr. Thomas Gray Dickson was born February 17, 1943 to the late Irene Triplett Grier and Thomas Gray Grier of Gastonia, NC, and was raised in York by his mother and step father Mason White Dickson. He graduated from York High School in 1960 and went on to Clemson University for his pre-veterinary medicine studies. He earned his DVM degree from the University of Georgia, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1966 and went into private practice in York where he practiced for 40 years. After his retirement, he worked for Banfield Pet Hospitals as a relief veterinarian.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served as Finance Chairman. He was a member of the York Rotary Club serving as president, the YCHS Athletic Booster Club where he was president for several years. He was the finance chairman for Project Graduation at YCHS, member of the York Chamber of Commerce, serving on the board, and served on Board of Advisers for First Citizens Bank in York. He was a life-time member of the SC Veterinary Association and the AVMA and a member of the York Investment Association where he had also served as president.
He enjoyed cattle farming, flounder fishing, and UGA football.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Peggy Love Dickson and his son, Geoffrey Bryan Dickson (Chelsey) of Hendersonville, TN, brothers-in-law, J. Lowry Love (Renee’) and Frank Love (Terry), niece, Morgan Love, nephew, Jay Love (Kristen) and great niece, Abigail Love.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Gray Dickson, Jr.
The funeral will be at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Dun and Rev. Wallace Tinsley officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 2-3 P.M. at Trinity United Methodist Church Parlor.
