Dot Hight
Dot Hight, 78, of Eola began her heavenly journey on Saturday, August 2, 2014 after losing her battle with cancer. Dot was the only child born to Claude and Flossie Powell on Oct. 24, 1935, near Eola, Texas where she was born and raised. Dot completed her education and graduated from Eola High School in 1954. On August 21, 1954, she married the love of her life, O.D. Hight, of Eola, Texas. After 47 years of marriage, O.D. preceded her in death, January 22, 2001. She is survived by her two daughters, Cherlian Fischer of Eola and Linda Fischer of Pear Valley; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Dot loved quilting and crochet, both old and new and took great pride in piecing quilts and crocheting for her friends and family. She enjoyed playing cards and dice games and instilled that love in her daughters and grandchildren. Many hours were passed at the dining table with friends and family visiting and playing games. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grand mother who worshiped Church of Christ. She owned and operated her own successful business, the Countryman Cafe, for many years in Eola, TX, and was a strong supporter of her husband’s construction business for many years while raising their family.
Memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice of San Angelo.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Eola Cemetery in Eola. Arrangements are by Eden Funeral Home.
