Funeral services for Ms. Doretha E. Smith, of Dublin, will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the First African Baptist Church, Reverend Benny Brantley will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Ms. Doretha E. Smith was born on September 16, 1932, to John and Louise Coney in Laurens County. She passed away on April 23, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, siblings and one grandson.

She joined St. Mark Baptist Church at an early age. She served the church as a faithful member of the Usher Board and the Order of the Eastern Star. Ms. Smith also served faithfully at New Bible Believers Baptist Church until her health declined. She worked at Oxford of Dublin for twenty plus years and at Moore Street School.

Ms. Smith is survived by her children, Dorothy (Leonard) McNair, Odessia Boyd, Gwendolyn (Tim) Williams, Elois Smith, Steve (Melissa) Smith and Phyllis (Charlie) Strange; sisters, Aldora Beard, Bessie Fedrick, Annie McDonald, Louise Blue, Doreen Carswell; brothers, Willie Coney and Wade Coney; aunt, Rebecca Lee, fifteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 303 Hayes Street in Dublin.
