Doretha Evans

Funeral services for Mrs. Doretha Evans, of Dublin, will be held on Monday, December 23, at 1 PM at the Greater New Friendship Baptist Church, 3265 Highway 19 in Dublin. Interment will follow in the Hatoff Church Cemetery. Reverend Albert Evans, Sr., will officiate.

Mrs. Evans, who passed on December 17, was born on October 4, 1923, to Mr. Simon and Lena Horton Perry. She was a member of Green Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Evans, Sr.; son, Ulysses Evans; her mother and father, sister, Lena Rozier; sister, Essie Mae Caldwell; brother, Clarence (Son) Perry; and daughter-in-law, Zellie Brown Evans.

She was employed for several years at Claxton Hospital, Laurens Memorial Hospital and Fairview Park Hospital until she retired.

Mrs. Evans leaves to mourn a loving devoted daughter, Dorothy (Prentice) Rozier; sons, Eddie Evans, Clinton (Kathy) Evans of Dublin, Edward Evans, Jr. of East Dublin, Linton (Myrtle) Evans of Montrose and Reverend Albert (Marion) Evans of Chattanooga, Tennessee; brother, Johnny (Alice) Perry of Detroit, Michigan, sixteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren; devoted cousins, Mary Robinson, Dublin, Rosa Lee Jones of Detroit, Michigan, Leola Taylor, Wrightsville and Juanita Pullen of Linden, New Jersey and a host of relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Dorothy Rozier, 636 Pinecone Road in Dublin.
