He was married fifty-three years to Phyllis H. Jones.
He is survived by their children: George Wayne Harris (Filemenea Harris), Marquita Lynn Godfrey (Stephen Godfrey), Scott Harris (Lucy Harris), Dexter A. Jones Jr. (Francia Jones), Kyle Bryce Jones, Jay Orson Jones (Damita Jones), Carolyn L. Stewart (Rodney Stewart), Sharon DaNelle Jones, Phyllis Elnita Jones, and John Jason Jones (Jennifer Jones).

He was also survived by his 19 Grandchildren: Marlita Harris, Terrance and Alexander Godfrey, James Dexter Jones (Sonya Jones), Darius Jones, Keosha, Ja'Nina, and Tia Jones, Sheena Jackson (Johnny Jackson), Kaiser (Latoya Stewart), Justin, and Genesis Stewart, DuJuan Chaney, Cicely Terry, Addam Jones, Trenton Joyce, and Nehé Jones, Courtney Renee Hamm, and Bryan Austin Jones.

He is also survived by his 9 Great-Grandchildren: Gabriel, Laila, and James Dexter Jones, Marquese Brown, Tianna, Aliona, and Johanna Jackson, Kaiser Stewart Jr., and Joel Chaney.
