Delmas Pauldo
Funeral services for Mr. Delmas Pauldo, of Dublin, will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the C. D. Dudley Memorial Chapel at the Dudley Funeral Home. Reverend Doctor Willie Edmond will officiate. Interment will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11 AM at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
Mr. Pauldo, who passed on May 28, 2016, was born April 20, 1937, to the late John and Edna Mae Pauldo.
In Mr. Pauldo’s abundant 79 years, his comedic and fun spirited nature allowed him to live a plentiful life. He touched the lives of many with his spontaneity and benevolent spirit. His energetic and fun-loving life served as a spark and ignited everyone around him. His legacy of laughter and love will be cherished by his family and friends.
“Bruce Head” as he was affectionately called by his brothers and sisters, was the sixth son of seven boys and six girls. After graduating from Oconee High School in Dublin, Georgia. He left home and used his angelic voice to sing at weddings. His favorite songs were “Twelve Gates to the City” and “Precious Lord.” Emory Thomas, a music instructor, heard his smooth tenor voice and took him out of the “cotton field” and eagerly enrolled him at Fort Valley State College in Fort Valley, Georgia. Hes enjoyed entertaining audiences while a student and studied to be fluent in German, French, Spanish and Italian.
After attending Fort Valley State College, he enlisted in the United States Army. As Master Gunnery Sergeant, He worked as a Linguist and accommodated CIA agents on special assignments. He received numerous award over his 22 years in the Army.
He settled in Dublin in 1982. There he began working at Carl Vinson VA Medical Center as a food service specialist. There he made lifelong friendships and continued to entertain his friends and VA family with his elaborate story telling.
Mr. Pauldo enjoyed cooking and fishing. His favorite was “fried catfish.” Many residents of the Dublinair, Shamrock and Southland Nursing homes received his famous catfish once he caught and fried them as a special surprise. This made him a favorite with many in the Dublin community. He loved his brothers and sisters. He had special bonds with them all. He enjoyed teasing and reminiscing on their childhood, especially with his nieces and nephews.
Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed laughing and mingling with people from all walks of life.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted brother Curtis (Margaret) Pauldo and loving sister, Theria Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loyal friends.
