David Ybarra

David Vasquez Ybarra, 83, of Eden, passed away on May 11th 2014. He was born in Victoria Texas, on April 2, 1931. He was married to his sweetheart, Aurelia Castillo Ybarra on March 1st, 1953 for 29 years before her passing in 1982.

David was a Southern Baptist Minister for over 30 years, which preceded his work as part of the grounds staff of the Eden Consolidated School District for over 15 years, before his retirement.
David was a man after God’s own heart, who attempted to live each day in step with the Holy Spirit. His friends knew him as a selfless, kind, and loving gentleman. He was known to his family as our sweet “Papa.” His true loves were John Wayne & his Savior Jesus Christ.

He is survived by siblings Santos Ybarra, Lupe Juan Ybarra, and Carlota Salazar; Children Mary Torres and Elena Rivas; Grandchildren Simon Rivas III, Adam Torres Jr., Jordan Shane Rivas, David Paul Rivas, Aurelia Raquel Samame and numerous great grandchildren.
Papa, if I could ask if you were enjoying Heaven, I know exactly what you would say….”You betcha Mijo!”

Memorial service is 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014 at Eden First Baptist Church followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. in the Fairmount Cemetery in San Angelo. Officiated by Chris Curtis. Arrangements by Eden Funeral Home.

There will be a lunch at the Eden First Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Friday before the memorial service.
