Funeral services for Reverend Crawford LeCounte, Sr., will be held at 1 PM on Saturday April 20, 2109, at the New Home Baptist Church at 170 Hudson Street in Macon, Georgia. Pastor Phillip Jones will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery in Dublin.
Reverend Crawford LeCounte, Sr., was born on August 27, 1943, in Darien, Georgia to the late Ellen and Crawford LeCounte, I. He attended McIntosh and Liberty County public schools. He later moved to Miami, Florida. He accepted Christ at an early age. In 1979, he established and served as pastor of The Church of the Rapture in Miami until 1988. He also served as an evangelist and was frequently invited to speak in numerous churches in Florida and Georgia. He joined the New Home Baptist Church in 2015, and was a faithful member.
He was employed as a truck driver by Associated Grocers in Miami for 30 years until his retirement in 2005, and later with Jones & Sons Trucking in Dublin, GA until April 2019. He enjoyed being a truck driver and driving his tractor-trailer on the open road brought him peace and joy. His favorite sports were football and basketball. He was a faithful fan of the Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat and the University of Miami Hurricanes. He loved talking about the Bible, sports, politics and current events.
He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Deloise Barnes LeCounte for 45 years and four children were born to their union.
He was the father of six. Three of them preceded him in death —Eric Lee LeCounte, LaSaundra Rozetta Grant, and Crawford LeCounte, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Stacey W. Grant (Sheryl); two daughters: Elizabeth LeCounte (Raymond Hudson) and Katina Williams (Iram). He was the second of seven siblings. He was preceded in death by two brothers--Hebert Lambert and Ned Lambert, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories two brothers: Albert LeCounte, Sr. and Lawrence Lambert; two sisters: Mary Ann LeCounte and Leona Lambert; twelve grandchildren: Ashley Jadotte, Felicia Jadotte, Travis Jadotte, Matthew Gabriel, Brittany Gabriel, Kaitlyn Williams, Dwayne Williams, Barien Proctor, Natalia Douglas, Shataria Brantley, Joshua Grant and Jonathan Grant; two great-grands, Jaylen Douglas and Deshaun Hollingshed, Jr. and a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
