Craig Jackson
Funeral services for Mr. Craig Anthony Jackson, of Atlanta, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at 12 PM, at the graveside in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery on East Mary Street in Dublin. Bishop A. Tim Chatman will deliver the eulogy.
Mr. Jackson was born on February 13, 1964, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the parentage of the late Reverend Clarence Jackson, Jr., and Evelyn L. Jackson. He received his early education in the Dublin City Schools. He graduated from Dublin High School Class of 1982. He attended Morehouse College and was a member of the Morehouse Tiger Marching Band.
During his years living in Atlanta, Craig devoted a lot of time using his musical talent playing the Tenor Saxophone. He played with several local bands for many events. He performed at charitable events, weddings, family reunions, church activities and music festivals. He loved sports, especially softball, which he participated in as a player and as a coach. He used his artistic ability in his occupation as a Silk Screen Technician.
He was a member of the Saint Paul AME Church where Reverend Linda Gattis is the pastor, Here, he received his early Christian training. He was very active in the Young People's Department and he served as an usher before leaving to attend college.
Mr. Jackson, a son, grandson, brother,uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, to many, quietly transitioned on Friday,April 10, 2020,in an Atlanta Hospital from this life to the greatest reward of eternal life to be with the Lord.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his baby brother, Dale Vincent Jackson, his father, Reverend Clarence Jackson, Jr., grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jackson, Sr, and Mr. and Mrs. John Lyons.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted mother, Mrs. Evelyn L. Jackson, three brothers, Wayne B. Jackson, Atlanta, Ryan T. Jackson, Dublin, Britt G. Jackson, Columbus, Georgia, aunts, Mrs. Dorothy Cunningham, Mrs. Katheryn (Edward) Wallace, Mrs. Gwendolyn (Tony) Curtis, all of Atlanta, uncles, Mr. Eugene (Ethel) Jackson, Leon (Fannie) Jackson, of Mobile, Alabama, nieces, Le'Mia Jackson, Makayla Jackson of Dublin, nephews, Clarence Jackson, Rylan Jackson of Dublin, Rodney Wright, of Denver, Colorado, Dr: Julian Scott, Houston, Texas, loving sisters, Mrs Eva Holsey, of Denver, Colorado, and Ms. Unverl Chappell of Detroit, Michigan, and a host of cousins and a special friend, Regina Dardy. He will be missed by many friends and band associates in the Dublin and Atlanta areas.
He will be remembered as a quiet, calm, friendly person with a big smile.
Viewing will be at the Dudley Funeral Home on Friday, April 17, 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Saint Paul AME Church, POB 4963, Dublin, Georgia 31040 in memory of Mr. Jackson. d
