Cora Carswell-Harris
Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Carswell-Harris, 65, of Dublin, will be held on Tuesday, April 17, at 2 PM at the Christ Deliverance Temple, 403 East Garner Street in Dublin. Pastor Kenny Kates will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Carswell-Harris, the daughter of the late Mattie Mae Flanders and James Carswell, Sr., was born on March 7, 1947, and raised in Dublin. She was a graduate of Oconee High School. She moved to Gainesville, Florida, at an early age and returned to Dublin in the early 1980s. She was employed at the Parkside Lodge Alcohol and Rehabilitation Center for seven years and was employed at the Laurens County Sheriffs Department until her retirement in June of 2011 due to health issues. She passed on April 13. She leaves to cherish her memories her only daughter, Shantilla Baker, her loving grandson, Xavier Reese of Dublin, her husband, Eddie Harris, Jr. of Panama City, FL, her adored nieces, Margaret "Ladybug" Kellam of Columbia, SC, Alexus Brown (who she raised), and Delesk Snell-Monroe of Stone Mountain, god-daughter, Stephanie Wicker of Dublin, six sisters, Fannie Mae Dixon of Tampa, FL, Anna Parker, Betty Bargie, Louise Brown, Mary K. Sumblin, and Dorothy J. Carswell, all of Dublin, four brothers, Alex Carswell, Dublin, Robert (Mary) Carswell, James (Cora) Carswell, and Albert Carswell of Tampa, FL, along with a host of other nieces and nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
