Funeral services for Mr. Charles Tyrone Sowell, 42, will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at New Life Ministries Church, 5051 Inner Perimeter Road, Valdosta, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Sasser Landing Cemetery. Mr. Sowell, who passed on December 23, was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He graduated as valedictorian from Northeast High School in 1987. He served one year in the United States Navy. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University, and a Masters in Education from Strayer University. Mr. Sowell was currently working on his doctorate degree. Charles was employed by the Valdosta City School System, and was owner and operator of Sunshine Pools and Spas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mae Bobbie Sowell grandparents, Bernice and Zeke Ponds, Edna Sowell and Waddy and Nora Lumpkin a sister, Katie Snell and aunt, Linda Ponds. Mr. Sowell is survived by his wife, Catrina Sowell a son, Malik Sowell fathers, Charles (Vivian) Sowell and Melvin (Nellie) Lumpkin father-in-law, Donald Thomas mother-in-law, Gussie Ashley sisters, Annie Sowell, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Tammie Sowell, Valdosta, Marilyn, Latrina (Eric), Erin, Kayla, Selena, Valerie (Ellis) and Skiesta brothers, Charles Jerome (Tonya) Sowell and Eddie (Michelana) aunt, Angelena Wallace uncle, Robert (Essie) Cooper, Moses (Eloise), Edgar (Rubye), Woodrow, Robert (Juanita) and Darnell Lumpkin great-aunt, Bertha Mae Brown nieces, Felicia, Tabitha, Tamarra, and Maya nephews, Brent, Dustin, Jeremy, and Antwone great-nephews, Chad, Jr. and Brent, Jr. great-niece, Breanna sisters-in-law, Catina (Timothy) Williams and Laronda (Jamal) Jihad brothers-in-law, Brawner Ashley, Donald Thomas, Jr. and Y-Nelson Thomas and a host of other relatives and friends.
