Charles Reese
Funeral services for Minister Charles James Reese, Jr., of Dublin, will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 11 AM at the Zion Hope Church of God in Christ, 408 Alabama Street in Dublin. Reverend Randall Gearhart will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.
Minister Charles James Reese, II, also known as Junior, was born on February 10, 1956, in Dublin to the late Charles James (Red) Reese, Sr., and Cleo Phillips Reese. He lived his life in love and dedication to God, to his family and friends to whom he brought great joy. He met and married the love of his life, Linda Lockhart, on July 18, 1981. He was a 1974 graduate of Dublin High School, and was ordained in the ministry on September 22, 1981. He joined the United States Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was an avid chess player, and a dedicated jeopardy fan and player. He continued his occupation as a salesperson at Kinney Shoes, and was the youngest sales person at age 20. He continued to be a witness for the Lord, Jesus Christ, to everyone he would meet, selfless as he gave of himself for the welfare and in the interest of others. He passed away on September 12.
He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Deacon J. B. Taylor, Sr., stepbrothers Charles Taylor, Julius Taylor, J. B. Taylor, Jr., Donnie Taylor Sr., his grandmothers Nora Reese and Leslie Phillips, his grandfathers, Ike Reese, James Monroe Phillips, and his father-in-law, Woodrow Lockhart. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving and dedicated wife, Linda L. Reese, sons, Charles James (Trey) Reese III, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Stephon Reese, of Dublin, and Daniel Jamar Reese of Macon, brothers, David R. Reese Sr., and Timothy C. (Annie) Reese of Dublin, stepsisters, Bertha Brown of Atlanta, and Geneva Lamar of Phoenix City, Alabama, stepbrothers, Oliver (Mailee) Taylor of Birmingham, Alabama, Adolph (Ruby) Taylor of Akron, Ohio, and Marion (Carolyn) Taylor of Cadwell, mother-in-law, Verlia Mae Lockhart of Eatonton, sisters-in-law Jaccqueline Lockhart, Mary Lockhart, Sandra Presley, and Gayle Jones, all of Eatonton, brothers-in-laws, Reverend Rickey Lockhart, and Lamar Lockhart of Eatonton, aunts, Rodella Hood of Decatur, Elizabeth Turner of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mary Reese of Titusville, Florida, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family is receiving friends at 611 Pointe West Drive in Dublin.
