Mr. Charles C. English, 93 years old of Annona, TX, went to be with his heavenly father, Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in Lakewest Rehab & Skilled Care, Dallas, TX. Funeral service will be Monday, March 25, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, Annona, TX with Rev. T.L. Blevins pastor and officiating. Interment was in Annona Cemetery, Annona, Texas. Under the direction of Citizens Funeral Home, 500 E. Church Street, Clarksville, TX.
Charles Culberson “Cub” English was born to the union of Sam & Nealy English in Annona, TX on February 16, 1920. He grew up in Annona, TX and united with the Rock of Ages Baptist Church at an early age. After graduating from Cheatham High School, he attended CC Camp for young men. Charles met and married his sweet heart, Cecil Louise Hill, who preceded him in death. During World War II, he joined the Army and toured on the European theater where he served as a medical technician on the battle field. He was nicknamed Dr. Cat. Upon his return home, hesecured a job with Long Star Steel Company. During his lifetime he was actively involved with the American Legion, Masonic Lodge and was affectionately known asthe Historian for Annona. He was always very involved with his church as he was an usher, a deacon and became the chairman of the deacons until his heath began to decline.
