Carolann Monteith
Carolann Gail Monteith passed away at her home on January 12, 2014-after a long illness in the care of her husband Joel-with her son Thomas and grandson Joshua at her side. She and Joel just celebrated 40 years of marriage this past September. The eldest daughter of Charles and Florence Sobolewski-she was preceded in death by her sons, William and Douglas. Carolann came to Missouri in 1976 with her family from New Jersey where she was born. She was part owner and manager of the M & O Egg Ranch in Urbana for several years. Carolann was also a licensed real estate agent for Strout Realty. She later became an instructor with the University of Missouri Extension Service-having to end her career early due to health issues. Carolann was active in Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron at the Urbana Chapter. She was a noted cook and known by family and friends for her great dinners and fabulous tomato sauces. She loved her old farm home-surrounded by all the trees and lovely flowers she and Joel planted over the years-where the cool breezes blew across the front porch even in the heat of summer. Carolann is survived by sons-Scott, Duane and Thomas. Two daughters-Laura Sandt and Deborah Manee. Ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. An unkind word never passed her lips.
