Bradford Burton, Jr.

Brad Burton, Jr. passed away peacefully at age 64 at the VA Hospice in Tucson, AZ on 3-31-2017. He had COPD & complications. Brad was born on 8-14-1952 in Sheridan, WY, grew up in Greybull, & graduated from Greybull High School in 1971. He was a member of The First Baptist Church in Greybull. He started working in his teen years at Kimbell's Drive-in Restaurant as a cook, working there for several years. In 1980 Brad joined the US Army & served as a Radar Technician from 1980-1984; then was is the Reserves from 1984-1988, while living in Sheridan. He worked as a cook at area restaurants, and briefly at Mullinex Co. In the 1990's Brad lived in NC, FL, & WV before returning to Wyoming & living in Worland, Riverton, & Sheridan. He settled a few years ago in AZ due to health reasons & his brother living there. He worked at a State Park in Prescott, AZ. He moved in Oct. 2016 to Tucson to be near the VA Medical Center there.
Brad enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, winter activities, but mainly he loved fishing. He was a great cook & would grill, bake, or fry fish for family & friends when possible. He enjoyed fishing with his brother, Paul, up in the Big Horns.
Brad leaves his two sisters, Cindy (Burton) & Sterling McPherson of CA, Linda (Burton) Walker of MA, and his brother, Paul & Clara (Lenz) Vinzant of AZ. He leaves one daughter, Angela (Burton) & Jaime Townley of Sheridan, & their children, Christian Lee, Christian Thomas Burton, & Hope Marilyn. His former wife, Wanda (Rice) Burton also lives in Sheridan. A Special Uncle & Aunt, Al & Ruth (Barnhart) Badgett reside in Sheridan. He leaves his good friends, Monte & Robb Harnden, of WY, who helped Brad, especially in his final weeks, & are thanked by Brad's family!
He leaves many other Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nieces, & Nephews in Wyoming & other parts of the country.
Brad was pre-deceased by his father, Bradford O. Burton, Sr. on June 16, 1952, in TX before his birth; his mother, Mary (Barnhart) Burton Vinzant Phoenix of Greybull & Sheridan, who passed in Billings on February 4, 1994; his two step-fathers, Roy L. Vinzant of Greybull, who passed in Sheridan on Nov. 10, 1972, and Ralph Phoenix of Sheridan, who passed in July 2007; and his brother-in-law, Jim Walker of MA, (formerly of Greybull & Cody), who passed on April 22, 2011.
All of Brad's grandparents are deceased; Maternal grandmother, Cynthia Barnhart, who had lived in Sheridan for many years; Grandfather, Rollin Barnhart Sr., of Sheridan; Paternal Grandparents, Orson & Ellen (Tucker)Burton, of Denver, CO; Paternal Step-Grandparents, Arthur Perry & Alta Vinzant of Upton, WY.
According to Brad's wishes, No Funeral Services are planned. Following cremation, his ashes will be scattered where he loved to go fishing.
