CLOVER -- Bobby Joe Cates, Sr., 71, of 2805 Hart Road passed away Monday, December 22, 2014, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Vassey officiating.
Bobby was a son of the late Harvey Virgil Cates, Sr. and Lizzie Etta Cantrell Eaton. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Bobby was a former mechanic and paint and body auto worker and later became a contract hauler, and was a veteran of the SC National Guard.
He is survived by wife, Loretta "Katy" Childress Cates of Clover, SC, son, Bobby Joe Cates, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, daughter, Debbie Haney of Gastonia, NC, step daughter Genia Hamrick of Rock Hill, SC, step son Todd Carroll of York, SC, 3 brothers Harvey Cates, Mackie Eaton, and Charles Cates, sister, Evelyn Sheilly, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
