Betye Ann Hauber
Betye Ann Ekiss Hauber, our mother, ended her journey on earth and began a new adventure on November 21, 2010.
She was a great mom who taught by example. She was fiercely independent and worked throughout her life until she retired at 80.
Betye truly loved primitive antiques and spent most of her life in pursuit of them. As long as I can remember, she was always looking for old things, taking them home, fixing them, enjoying and sometimes selling for a profit.
In Ft. Worth Texas, her home from 1961 until 2005, she was known as "the dealer without a shop." She loaded up her station wagon with antiques and sold them to local antique dealers.
She would often sell her own furniture when dealers came to her home, then go out and get more. The fun was in the hunt.
Our mom chose to live a simple life. Sometimes people would notice that she had no TV, and put one on her front porch; the next day it would be gone.
She preferred to be "out there" every day in the real world; as a result, opportunity often found her.
