Funeral services for Mrs. Betty J. Coley (Nichols), 67, of Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 2 pm at the Everlasting Gospel Church, 1300 South Jefferson Street in Dublin. Pastor A. Dwayne Whitehead of Royal Springs Baptist Church will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Royal Springs Cemetery in East Dublin.

Mrs. Coley was born on June 4, 1950, in Dublin to the late Lettley A. Coley, Sr. and Mrs. Stella Mae Wilcher. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and joined the Greater New Evergreen Baptist Church. She served on the Usher Ministry for many years but her passion was singing for the Lord. Betty was a graduate of the B.D. Perry High School and attended Essex County Community College in Newark, New Jersey. She married Jerry D. Nichols. She returned to Dublin in 1979 to work for Flexsteel Industries, Inc., as a seamstress for many years until her retirement. She tirelessly devoted her talents in assisting others. Mrs. Coley’s angelic voice was heard throughout many congregations in the Dublin and surrounding counties. She was a faithful member of Royal Springs Baptist Church. Her passion for the Lord and the community was an extension of home. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Her life journey ended with the same spirit and determination she lived with, on September 15, 2017 at Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta.
Mrs. Coley was preceded in death by sisters, Jimmie Nell Hall, Sharon Wilcher, brothers Lettley A. Coley, Jr., Willie James Wilcher, and grandmother, Stella Reese.

Mrs. Coley is survived by her husband, Jerry D. Nichols of Newark, New Jersey; daughter, Monique Coley of Covington; two sons, CPT Byron C. (Dr. Nikki) Coley of Stockbridge; Sherrod R. Nichols of East Dublin; sisters, Carolyn Thomas, Barbara (Kenny) Dixon of Dublin; Lorraine (Jeffery) Bordeaux of Raleigh, North Carolina; Gloria Coley, Sandra Coley, Mary Coley of Rochester, New York; brother, Ronnie Wilcher of East Dublin; Kenny Ray (Merlene) Coley of Rochester, New York; six grandchildren, one great grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

The family is receiving friends at 84 Wrightsville Avenue in East Dublin. Viewing will be on Friday, September 22, 2017,12 PM until 8 PM at the Dudley Funeral Home.
