Bernice Foston

Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice Miller Foston, of Dublin, will be held on at 1 PM on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at the Wabash Church of God, 500 Telfair Street in Dublin. Reverend Reginald May will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Foston was born as the oldest of eight children to the late Deacon Ora G. Miller, Sr. and the late Sallie Mae Bostic Miller on December 31, 1944, in Screven County, Georgia. She received her formal education in the Screven County School System. Sister Foston accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Ogeechee Church of God in Sylvania, Georgia. Later in life, after marriage, she became a member of Martin Street Church of God in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1966, Bernice Miller was joined in holy matrimony to Elder Joseph Foston. This union was blessed with one loving and devoted son, Anthony.

Sister Foston became a member of Wabash Street Church of God in Dublin, after her husband accepted the call to lead the flock. She served faithfully and dutifully on several boards and committees but most memorably as the wife of the late Elder Joseph Foston, who was the pastor for 23 years from 1967-1990, until his health failed. She continued her work for the Lord with the current Wabash Church of God, as a humble and diligent servant and remained steadfast until she transitioned. Sister Foston worked many years in the banking industry as a teller, beginning in Atlanta, Georgia, then she later moved to Dublin where many referred to her as “Ms. Bernice”. She gained many friends near and far by showing that sweet smile and loving disposition. After more than forty years as a teller, she retired from Bank of America in Dublin.

Everyone knew that Sister Foston loved, and was devoted to, her children, especially her grandchildren, Antwan and Aaysia. She adored every moment she was able to spend caring for them. They were joys of her heart. She also had a love for visiting the sick and shut-in and helping others in need. She also enjoyed spending time gardening. On Wednesday, May 23, 2018, Sister Foston slipped quietly away after a very brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Foston, and one sister, Gloria Miller.

The beautiful memories of the life and love of Sister Bernice Foston will forever remain in the minds of her loved ones including a devoted and loving son, Anthony Foston, a sweet, supportive daughter-in-law, Suewanda Sheree Foston, her loving god daughter, Tikia Rozier, her dear grandchildren, Antwan and Aaysia Foston, all of Dublin, Georgia; two sisters, Mae Dell (Harry) Blythers and Lucinda (James) Williams , both of Sylvania, Georgia; four brothers, Ora G. Miller of Albany, Georgia, Gus S. (Bobbie) Miller of Savannah, Georgia, Willie C. (Zora) Miller of Augusta, Georgia, and Zacheriah (Gloria) Miller of Sylvania, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, Marvin (Debbie) Foston, and John (Gwendolyn) Foston, both of Atlanta, Georgia; five sisters-in-law, Barbara Smith, Geraldine (Alvin) Wright , and Linda (Wendell) Anderson , all of Milledgeville, Georgia, Mae Bell Dickson of Gray, Georgia, and Cora Foston of Atlanta, Georgia; two aunts, Mae Bell Echols and Lillian Foston, both of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, with special mention of a very close and devoted friend and co-worker, Ms. Barbara Lee.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Wabash Church of God Roof Fund, 500 Telfair Street, Dublin, Georgia, 31021.

The family is receiving friends at 1322 Belmont Drive in Dublin.
