Funeral services for Mr. Benjamin Sherman Parks, of Cincinnati, Ohio, will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 1 PM at the graveside in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery at 600 East Mary Street in Dublin. Reverend Winfred L. McCloud will deliver the eulogy.

Mr. Parks was born to Amos Benjamin Sherman Parks and Scillar Mae Redman Parks Kennedy on April 20, 1942, in Dublin, Georgia. He was a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio for over 50 years. He was a loving and devoted father whose life was filled with love, joy, and hope. He was baptized at Turkey Creek Baptist Church in Dublin. He was raised in Miami, Florida as a youth and later returned to Dublin, where he became a proud graduate of Oconee High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps, serving tours of duty in the Far East and in California which broadened his experience and love of life.

Benjamin lived in New Jersey where he worked with his older brother, Olden Parks Sr, who preceded him in death. He later relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio with his older sister, Annie Mae McCloud, who also preceded him in death. He completed his undergraduate coursework at the University of Cincinnati, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture, Engineering, and Applied Design with a Minor in Accounting. He retired from Duke Energy (formerly known as Cinergy) as a Special Ledger Accountant. As a proud member of the National and Ohio Associations of Realtors, Benjamin served as a licensed realtor for many years. His commitment to the community was consistently demonstrated by his faithful and generous support of Habitat for Humanity, the Fine Arts Fund, and the United Way of Greater Cincinnati. He was also the past Director of the Forest Park Green Hills Jaycee s and a member of the American Bowling Conference. He passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020.

Ben was preceded in death by his seven siblings, all who originated in Dublin, and later moved to various places throughout the United States. Olden Parks of Newark, New Jersey (survived by Shelby), Annie Mae Parks McCloud of Cincinnati, Ohio (survived by George McCloud), Gwen Parks, Dearest Parks, and Maryann Parks, of Dublin, John Parks and Quinton Kennedy of Cincinnati, Ohio.

He is survived by his three children and a bonus daughter: Gregory (LaShon) Lewis of East Dublin, Georgia, Ronnett Dunn, Shawnia (Carlos) Robertson, and Sonja Parks, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His memory will also be cherished by many dearly loved cousins from Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, and Philadelphia, and a host of nieces and nephews.
