Arby Lagroon
Funeral services for Deacon Arby Bobby Lagroon, Jr., of Dublin, Georgia, will be held at 4 PM on Friday, August 23, 2019, at the Williams Chapel Baptist Church, 1142 GA Hwy 29 in East Dublin. Otis Dixon, Sr., will preside and Reverend Antwain Hambrick-Lloyd will officiate. Interment will follow at the Old Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Greenwood, South Carolina.
Deacon Arby Bobby Lagroon, Jr. affectionately known as “June” was born on October 15, 1955, to the late Arby Bobby Lagroon, Sr., and Marian Alberta Moore Lagroon. He received his education at Greenwood High School Class of 1973 in which he was an “All-Around Athlete.” He continued his education on an athletic scholarship to South Carolina State University Class of 1977 and received a Bachelor in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science.
He was employed for more than 30 years at Farmers Furniture until he retired in 2018. He was voted by his peers as Most Valuable Team Player of the Year for 2001-2002 and Most Improved Manager in 2013-2014, and Executive Club in 2013-2014 while at Farmers Furniture. Arby was well liked by his peers and love interacting with his customers. He became an ordained Deacon at First A.B. Church in 1998 under the leadership of Reverend Vernon D. Lloyd, and later became a dedicated member of New Direction Baptist Church where he attended faithfully until his health declined. Deacon Lagroon taught Sunday School at church as well as on the radio station with “Daily Bread” for more than 20 years where he joyfully spread the word of God to all his listeners. He had a passion for Christ and was not ashamed to tell anyone about his love for God. He enjoyed playing sports and watching sports. Deacon Lagroon was a family man with a bubbly personality and he will truly be missed by everyone. He passed away on August 16, 2019.
He was married to his college sweetheart of 39 years, Patricia Clark Lagroon, on June 8, 1980, and to this union four children were born: Patrina, Armand (Dacula, GA), Patrice, and Prionna, all of Dublin, Georgia. He has four grandchildren: Nevaeh Lagroon-Coley, Kamari & Kambria Lagroon, and Ka’Zalia Carswell, all of Dublin, Georgia. He also leaves behind his mother Marian Alberta Moore Lagroon of Greenwood, South Carolina, one brother Hiram Stanley Lagroon of Conyers, Georgia, Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law, Dorothy L. Clark and Ernest Clark, Sr. of Newberry, South Carolina, his 3 sisters-in-law: Margaret Watson of Newberry, South Carolina, Millicent Williams of Columbia, South Carolina, and Deidre Clark of Fremont, California, and his 2 brothers-in-law, Ernest Clark, Jr. of Newberry, South Carolina, and Eric Clark of Simpsonville, South Carolina, 5 Aunts: Ruby M. Williams, Josie L. Davis, and Daisy Moore of Greenwood, South Carolina, Marilyn M. of West Columbia, South Carolina, and Evelyn Lagroon of Washington, DC.,his two uncles: Dr. Robert C. Moore of Greenwood, South Carolina, and Arnett Klugh of West Columbia, South Carolina, Courtney Brice (son-in-love) Kathy Ramos (daughter-in-love) and special in-love grandchildren, Jose Martinez, Anthony Saunders, and David Saunders; several cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives to morn his passing.
