Ansel Ashley, Jr.
CHESTER -- Ansel Ashley, Jr. born in Ware Shoals, SC on October 31, 1928 went home to be with Jesus on October 30, 2015.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 2, 2015 from 11- 12 noon at Bratton Funeral Home in York. The funeral will be at 12:00 noon on Monday, November 2, 2015 at Bratton Funeral Home in York with Rev. David Brannen and Rev. Larry Parsons officiating. The burial will be at 2:00 PM at Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Fort Mill, SC on Monday, November 2, 2015.
Mr. Ashley was a WWII veteran and a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was an active member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. He loved his Lord and his family and never met a stranger. He loved helping people, and his faith in God radiated in all he did. He was retired from Cone Mills Corporation of Pineville, NC.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bobbie McCully Ashley, two children, Joyce Brannen (Rev. David Brannen), of Chester, and Curtis Ashley of Fort Mill, SC, five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Johnnie Estes Christian, his father, Johnny Ansel Ashley, sister Marth A. Coley, and half-brother William Christian.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, 4619 Mt Pleasant Ch Rd Chester, SC 29706.
