A funeral can be one of the most expensive purchases one may ever have to make. Having little to no knowledge of the industry, coupled with the added time pressure and emotional duress a person could easily be fooled and taken advantage of. Elliott Chapel must comply with the "Funeral Rule" or face the possibility of federal trade commission complaints being filed.

The "funeral rule" was enacted in 1984 and is designed to ensure that all funeral homes including Elliott Chapel provides consumers adequate information with regards to the products and services they are charged for.

As part of the "Funeral Rule", Elliott Chapel will provide you with a General Price List (GPL) that includes but not limited to, the expenses of funeral service items such as transportation to the cemetery and viewing or visitation services.

The loss of a loved one is a difficult thing to go through. Funeral home directors at Elliott Chapel understand that this is a trying time for the family and friends of the recently deceased. They attempt to make the grieving process a little easier by providing funeral planning and other services.

Funeral directors will be available at any time a death occurs to transport the deceased to the funeral home from the place of death. Soon after the death, the Elliott Chapel will arrange a meeting with the family to discuss the necessary paperwork and arrange for funeral services. In addition, all other arrangements regarding the cemetery, insurance claims, veteran’s benefits, and similar inquiries will be handled by the funeral director.

Composing an obituary may be a difficult process for the family of the recently deceased. The funeral director endeavors to make this process a little easier by gathering the necessary information and preparing the obituary. The director at Elliott Chapel will then see to posting the obituary on WhoPassedOn, newspapers, and publications requested by the family.

In addition to these basic preparation and planning services, the Elliott Chapel will contact any officiates, clergy members, or other individuals and groups the family requests to participate in the services. They will also provide the necessary or requested memorial items, such as acknowledgement cards, guest book, memorial tributes, or prayer cards. The primary goal of the funeral director at Elliott Chapel is to take as much burden as possible off of the family so that they may appropriately grieve the loss of their loved one.
