Funeral services for Mr. Smith Julius (S. J.) Lowery, of Rentz, will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 1 PM at the Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 828 Scotland Road in Dublin. Reverend Frederick C. Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rozier Cemetery.

Mr. Lowery, who passed on May 9, 2015, was born on September 19, 1940, to the late Prentice and Magnolia Lowery.

He began his education at Mary Grove School and graduated from Mary Fleming High School. Mr. Lowery joined the Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He was untied in marriage to Mrs. Annie Lowery on July 25, 1964. He worked for many years at Gold Kist and for twenty-nine years for Lovett & Tharpe, Inc.

Mr. Lowery was preceded in death by his parents, by his brothers, Earl Lowery, Prentice Lowery, Jr., and Albert Lowery, and by a sister, Thelma Johnson.

He is survived by a devoted wife, Annie Lowery; daughters, Tina Lowery of Rentz, Tiffany Edmond of Garden City and Whitney O'Neal of Dublin; sisters, Gloria Lowery-Lord of Detroit, Michigan, and Bessie (Larry) Butts of Rentz; brothers, Eddie (Johnnie) Lowery and Tommie Lowery, both of Miami, Florida, Arthur (Linda) Lowery of Detroit, Michigan, and Wayne (Stella) Lowery of Rentz; a host of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law;an aunt, Marie Smith Salter of Rentz, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 1823 JJ Club Road in Rentz.
