At a very early age, she joined and was a member of Mount McCrae (Hatoff) Baptist Church where she faithfully served for many, many years. She also fellowshipped with Reverend James Travick at the New Hope Baptist Church since transportation became an issue for her. Her membership remains at the New Greater Friendship Baptist Church since the merging of Hatoff and Pearly Chapel, under Reverend Roger Edwards.

On October 26, 1942, she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Reverend Willie L. McGirt. To this union, 13 wonderful boys and girls were given.

Mrs. McGirt is preceded in death by her husband, Willie; eldest daughter, Maudia; and son, Joseph. She is survived by Cora L. McGirt of New York, NY, Willie (Algerine) McGirt of Macon, Carrie Almeida of Walterboro, SC, Mattie M. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Ruthie and Herschel O'Neal, 879 Shamrock Court, Dublin. Mrs. McGirt will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Serenity Hospice (510 Bellevue Avenue, Dublin, Georgia 31021, or www.serenityhospicecares.com).
