Funeral services for Minister Leonard "Sonny" Walker, of Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Monday, March 23, 2015, at 11 AM at the Saint Paul A.M.E. Church at 308 Rowe Street in Dublin. Reverend Winfred McCloud will officiate. Interment will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2617 Vinson Highway in Milledgeville.

Minister Walker, who passed on March 12, 2015, was born on August 26, 1932, to the late Harry and Pinky Kearse Walker in East Palatka, Florida.

He was the third of four children. His oldest sisters, Marion and Harriet, preceded him in death. He attended the elementary school at the Seventh Day Adventist Academy in Palatka, Florida, and continued public school until he was drafted into the United States Army at an early age. He received his basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and was later deployed to Japan where he served until he was wounded in action and honorably discharged. Minister Walker was ordained as a minister on October 23, 1981.

Minister Walker is survived by his beloved wife, Estella Walker; sister, Claretha Walker, daughter, Zelma Dickerson (Vincent), Pamela Harris (Roger), Veanie Rolle; sons, Wayne and Joe (Wanda) Harris, and a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Pamela Harris, 500 Rutland Drive.
