Funeral services for Mr. Kasie Cicel Ates, of Miami, Florida, will be held on Thursday, July 28, at 11 AM at the Greater Union Grove Church of God in Christ, 4780 US Highway 80 West in Montrose, Georgia. Reverend Herchel White will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Eason Hill Church Cemetery.

Mr. Ates, affectionately known as K. C, was born on August 3, 1945, to the late Ivery and Maggie Ates. He was an independent truck driver, employed by Florida Fruit Company for more than forty years. After relocating to Miami in the late 1960s, he and his family became faithful members of the Mount Temple Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend J. C. Foster. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Smith and Gloria Stanley, and one brother, Eddie Lee Stanley. He passed away on July 21, 2016 in Miami.

Mr. Ates leaves to cherish his memories a devoted and loving wife, Evelyn Swayne Ates, three devoted daughters, Sheila Kirkland, Wanda (Officer Harrius) Johnson, and Glenda (Johnathan Smith) Ates, ten grandchildren, Brittany Ates of Athens, Brian Ates, Brandi Kirkland, Darren and Darrius Franklin, Jordan, Jacobie, and Kyra Johnson, Jerome Byrd III, and Johnathan C. Smith, all of Miami, Florida, two great-grandchildren, Brian Jr., and Brandon Ates, sisters, Mollie Mae Torrence (W .T.) of Montrose, Leola Durden of Cleveland, Ohio, and brother-in Law Green Lee Smith of Danville, brother, Willie B. Stanley of Danville, sisters-in law, Louanna Stanley of Miami, Florida, and Deloris Ates of Macon, brothers-in-law, Bobbie (Gladys) Swayne, Robbie Swayne, Lewis Swayne, Wayne Swayne, Elder James and Charlestine Swayne, sisters-in-law, Helen (Clarence) Chambliss, Josephine Swayne, all of Macon, and Betty Payne (Frank) of Warner Robins, family friends, Louise Kato, of Miami, Florida, Larry and LaRae Floyd of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Wayne and Gidget Swamber of Houston, Texas, and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews and other family members, relatives and friends.
