Funeral services for Mr. J. C. Ogburn, of East Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015, at 1 PM at the Valdosta Baptist Church, 1975 Highway 199 South, in East Dublin. Reverend John R. Sutton will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Ogburn, who passed on March 11, 2015, was born on September 13, 1926, to the late Ly Hugh and Marie Williams Ogburn. He grew up in the Rentz-Cadwell community and at and early age joined Fleming Chapel A.M.E. Church.

He was drafter in the United States Army starting in September 1950 during the Korean War. He was a Purple Heart recipient and was honorable discharged in the summer of 1955.

Mr. Ogburn retired as a police office for the Carl Vinson Veterans Administration Center in Dublin after twenty five years of service. He loved farming.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Oscar "Buddy" Ogburn and a sister, Lillie Knight.

On June 14, 1959, on a front porch, he wedded Louise Bernis Brantley. To this union, two children were born, James (Dorothy) Ogburn, Dublin, and Tonya (Marshall) George, Ellenwood. He also leaves to cherish his memory, Charles (Rhonda) Plummer, Stafford, Virginia and Bettye Bumpas; nine grandchildren, Leon, J'Lisia, Caitlyn, Connor, Charles, Jr., Ebony, Jasmine, Brenda, and Clarissa; one brother, Willie (Cora) Ogburn, East Dublin, and a host of in-laws, family, friends, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at 211 Manning Drive in East Dublin.
