Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Mae Bennett, of Wrightsville, will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at 2 PM at the graveside in the Westview Cemetery, West Court Street, Wrightsville. Reverend Dr. David Hall will deliver the eulogy.

Mrs. Hattie Mae Bennett, 77, was born on March 3, 1943, to the late Mr. Willie Bell Williams and Mrs. Janie Mae Heath Williams in Wadley, Jefferson County, Georgia, in the "Crossing Green" community. In her earlier years, Hattie Mae joined the Pine Grove AME Church in Donovan, Georgia, but in recent years, she practiced the Jehovah Faith at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Sandersville, Georgia. Mrs. Bennett worked in the textile industry for many years until she retired from Spring City Knitting in Wrightsville in the 1990's. She was married to the late Sylvester Warthen, Sr., in 1982, and to this union five children were born. One child, Mr. Arthur Williams, preceded her in death, in 1997. As time passed and her wounds healed, Hattie Mae married on June 25, 1983. her devoted husband of 36 years, Deacon Thomas Bennett, Jr. Mrs. Benniett departed this life on April 3, 2020.

Mrs. Bennett leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memories her husband, Deacon Bennett, her four children, Rickey Warthen, Carol (Rickey) Tucker and LaShonda Warthen, all of Wrightsville, and Sylvester (Sharon) Warthen, Jr., of Dublin, and to remember her comedic ways and jokes, she will always be cherished by her nine grandchildren, and thirty-six great grandchildren, four sisters and one brother, Christine (James) Booker, of Saint Petersburg, Florida, Charlene (Ralph) Clark, Betty Williams, Rosetta Amy, and Eddie Heath, all of Atlanta, two sisters-in-law, and three brothers-in-law, Eloise Wiggins, of Atlanta, Helen Williams, of Oconee, Georgia, William Bennett, and Robert Bennett of Sandersville, Georgia and Larry Bennett of Texas, a host of nieces and nephews, including the Warthen family, and several co-workers that she kept in contact with after retirement, including Emma Jackson of Adrian, Georgia, Margaret Roberts of Wrightsville, and the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses family of Sandersville, Georgia.
