Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Hightower Brinson, of Wrightsville, Georgia, will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at 1:00 PM at the Mitchell Grove Baptist Church, 78 Mitchell Grove Church Road in Wrightsville. Bishop T. L. Snell, Sr., will deliver eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Gladys Bell Brinson Hightower was born on February 20, 1929, to the parentage of the late Bobby Lee Brinson and Mary Clover Brinson in Wrightsville, Georgia. She was a member of the Mitchell Grove Baptist Church. Although born in Wrightsville, she grew up in Dublin, Georgia, where she attended the Oconee School System. She was always a loving and caring mother; she cherished children, and had a way of making them feel important. Many children were not of her biological lineage also referred to her as "Mama". She always offered encouragement to family and friends and never disparaged anyone. She was truly and angel on earth. Mrs. Gladys Bell Brinson, formerly Hightower, departed this life and gained her wings on January 17, 2020. She was 90 years old.

Gladys Brinson was married to the late Dave Hightower of Wrightsville, GA in 1950. From this union, she had nine children, four daughters, Wilhemina Hightower Coneway (late Willie) of East Dublin, GA, Dorothy J. Hightower of Springfield, MA, Janice Hightower Shanklin of Woodstock, GA, Eva Hightower Chapman of East Dublin, GA, two sons, Brinson S. Hightower of Macon, GA, John Edward Hightower of Wrightsville, GA, and three stepchildren, David Hightower (Eloise), Geraldine Hightower Moye (Ben), Rosa Hightower Darrisaw (Larry), all of Wrightsville, GA, siblings include Juanita Stephens of Atlanta, GA, Thurston C. Jones of Yeadon, Pennsylvania, Eugene Thomas, and Ricky Thomas of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, three sisters preceded her in death, the (late) Dorothy Perales, the (late) Doris Thomas, and the (late) Fredricka Jones, two stepsisters, Nininis Hightower of Orangeburg, SC, and the (late) Lois Mack of Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Gladys Brinson Hightowr also has a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish her memory.

The family is receiving friends at the Dudley Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 28, 6-7 PM.
