Funeral services for Mrs. Georgia Lee Evans Nelson, of East Dublin, will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 12 PM at the Buckeye Baptist Church, 2176 New Buckeye Road, East Dublin. Pastor Nathaniel Veal, Jr., will officiate. Interment will follow in church cemetery.

Mrs. Nelson, who was born on February 16, 1926, to the late Walter and Georgia Bell Evans in Eastman. After moving to Dublin, she joined the New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. She moved away in the early 1950's and was away until 1980, when she returned to Dublin, reunited with New Bethel AME Church and served as an usher until her health declined. She passed away on November 5, 2015.

Mrs. Nelson loved watching television including "Matlock", "Walker, Texas Ranger" and "In The Heat of The Night". She also enjoyed, cooking, fishing, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was affectionately known as "Grandma", "Auntie", and "Aunt Lee".

She was preceded in death by one child, Mary Jane Nelson; by two brothers, Johnny and Willie James Evans; and by one sister, Verna Lee Northcutt. She is survived by two children, Opal Dean Nelson and MacArthur (Merita) Evans of East Dublin; three sisters, Dolly Benford of Milledgeville, Margaret Anderson and Inez Fordham, both of Dublin; brother, Robert (Reba) Evans of East Dublin; ten grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of MacArthur and Merita Evans, 1512 New Buckeye Road, and at the home of Opal Dean Nelson, 1518 New Buckeye Road in East Dublin.
