George Sumblin

Funeral services for Mr. George Thomas Sumblin, of Atlanta, will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at 11 AM at the New Birth Ministries, 900 Martin Luther King Drive in Dublin. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Sumblin was born in Dublin, Georgia, on July 7, 1942, to the loving union of the late Willie and Viola Sumblin. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Grace Vickers, Joann Sumblin, and Willie J. Sumblin, and by his daughter, Sophia G. Sumblin.

Mr. Sumblin was a graduate of Oconee High School, and joined the United States Army, where he served several years and from which he was honorably discharged. He worked for the Veterans Association where he retired. He enjoyed working alongside his father as a cement finisher. He also obtained his contractor’s license and had a janitorial business after retirement. He enjoyed the serenity of fishing and the complexity of chess.

He was a caring father of three surviving children, Delisa A. Sumblin of Hernando, Mississippi, George T. Sumblin, Jr. of Odessa, Texas, and Kareene Frazier of New Britain, Connecticut. He also leaves behind his faithful brothers, Charles and Larry Sumblin, his grandchildren, Michelin, Derek, Kia, Chloe’, Ezekiel, and Aaron, great grandchildren, Nevaeh and Derek III, one aunt, Fannie Lee Stewart of Oglethorpe, and many loving nieces, and nephews, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 619 South Washington Street in Dublin.
