Genell Jones

Funeral services for Mrs. Genell Samuel Jones, of Dublin, will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, September 4, 2016, at New Birth Ministries, 900 Martin Luther King, Jr., Drive in Dublin. Bishop Tommy Lee Snell, Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Jones, who passed on August 30, 2016, was born on December 28, 1940, to the late Robert and Minnie Lee Samuel in Dublin. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry O. Jones; grandchildren, Bernard Kellam, Brent Harden, Tavarus Carter.

Mrs. Jones graduated from Oconee High in 1958 in Dublin. She went on to Savannah State University. She pursued different professional fields to include cosmetology and invested many years as the lead teacher at Howard Chapel Daycare. Later in the 1980s she opened up her own personal care daycare. She was a successful business owner for over thirty years.

She was a member of Bibleway COGIC Ministries, Inc., under the leadership of Bishop T.L. Snell, Sr. where she served on the Mother's Board faithfully until her health declined.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her loving and devoted children, Carol Fran Carter, Atlanta, Brandon Carter, Brice Carter, Richard Carter, Henry Carter and D. Michelle Carter of Dublin, sister, Margie (Benny) Blue, Atlanta; a host of grandchildren, godson, Joel Howard; devoted cousins and other family and friends to include Reverend Johnny Vaughn, Laura Bell Hester, Barbara James, Clara Boyer, Hazel Vickers and Cynthia and Bessie Doyle.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 2, 6-10 PM at the residence of Mrs. Barbara James, 315 Eleanor Drive in Dublin.
