Funeral services for Mrs. Essie Mae Holmes Dudley, of Dublin, will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at 1 PM at the Valdosta Missionary Baptist Church, 1975 Georgia Hwy 199 South in East Dublin. Reverend E. Neil Dixon will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be follow at the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Dudley, affectionately known as “Teedee” was born on March 15, 1927, in Laurens County, Georgia. She was the youngest of three daughters born to the late Tom Holmes and Mary Scott Holmes Moore. At an early age, Mrs. Dudley joined the Valdosta Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until death. Mrs. Dudley sang in the first choir after it was formed at the Church. Later she became a Youth Director for the Church’s Youth Ministry. Mrs. Dudley married the late Mr. Leo Dudley, Sr., in 1954. To this union, four children were born. She was a direct, talkative woman who loved to socialize with friends and acquaintances. She loved to travel, meet and communicate with people. She had a beautiful, sweet spirit. She passed away on November 21, 2018.

Preceding her in death were two children, Jeffery Jerome Dudley and Thomas James Moore, a stepfather, James Master Moore, siblings, Dorothy Holmes, Claxton Moore, Essie B. Moore Singleton, Lency Moore, Marie Moore, Julia Moore O’Neal, Talmadge Moore, and Quinton Moore, and a grandson, Christopher Moore.

Mrs. Dudley will be fondly remembered with love by her children and family, son, Leo Dudley, Jr, daughters, Debra (Leon) Dudley Blash and Lisa Dudley Stevenson, daughter- in-law, Annette Moore, grandchildren, Shantaya Dudley, Ashley Blash, GySgt. Robert A. Moore, Veronica Moore, and Omesia Jones, great-grandchildren, Christopher Moore, Jr., Nya Moore, and Nadia Moore, Mikalya Ellington, and Djimon Williams, great great-grandchild, Leah Moore, sister, Elois Holmes Travick, brother, Braxton Moore, brother-in-law, Herbert O’Neal, sister-in-law, Irene Moore, goddaughter, Andrella Burnett, and, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving friends at 212 Parker Dairy Road in Dublin.
