Funeral services for Mr. Douglas Bennie James, Sr., of Dublin, will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 2 PM at the Saint Paul A.M.E. Church on West 7th Avenue in Glenwood. Interment will follow in the Stuckey Cemetery in Glenwood. Pastor Charles Morris will officiate.

Mr. James, a former resident of Glenwood, who passed on August 2, 2014, was born on May 14, 1951, to the late, Fred and Susie Murray James in Glenwood. He was educated in the Wheeler County School System and he worked for Pope and Son Logging Company, and also worked for the City of Glenwood as a sanitation worker.

Mr. James was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers. In 1971, he married Rosie McMillan James.

He is survived by five daughters and one son, Teresa (Willie) Howard, Monica (Brent) Farmer, Douglas Bennie James, Jr., of Dublin, Bennie Sue (Antonio) Cook of Covington, Lorene (Tony) Tobler , Fitzgerald, Nyoka King, Covington; one sister, Lucille Wilbur, Dublin; one brother, Allen James, Sr., Glenwood, sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-law and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, 1277 Old Hawkinsville Road in Dublin.
