Funeral services for Dr. Dianne Elizabeth Carter-Jones will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 1 PM at the Williams Chapel Baptist Church, 1142 Hwy 29 South, East Dublin. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery. Reverend Abraham Crockett will officiate. A native of Laurens County, Dr. Jones was the youngest of the late Ike and Annie Mae Carter. She was an active member of the Rice Hill Baptist Church having joined at a very young age where she served very faithfully. She continued to serve her church in the following capacities: Youth Sunday School Teacher and as a member of the Adult Choir. She performed countless hours of community service through her dedication to her church. After graduating from Dublin High School in 1974, she attended Georgia College and State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 1978. Upon completing the bachelors degree Dianne was employed as an elementary teacher at East Laurens Elementary School for the Laurens County Board of Education. She continued her educational endeavor by obtaining the following degrees: Master of Education from Georgia College in 1984 and Education Specialist from Georgia Southern in August of 1990. During this time she obtained the Distinguished Honor of the 1992-1993 Teacher of the Year. Dr. Jones served as assistant principal of East Laurens Middle School. She later became the principal. She was a member of the Laurens County and Georgia Association of Educators. To further demonstrate her diligent work ethics she obtained her Doctorate of Education from Walden University in August 2011. Dr. Jones retired from the Laurens County School System after 33 years of dedicated educational service. Dr. Jones, who passed on January 24, 2012, was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Lynn Jones four sisters, Martha Carter, Maggie Lee Smith, Bessie Lou Whipple and Louis Braddy mother-in-law, Willie Mae Jones and father-in-law, Deacon Lilton Jones. Survivors include a devoted and loving husband, Moses Jones, one daughter, Amanda Jones both of Dublin, two sisters, Mary Helen (Andrew) Gaston and Willie Mae (Rayfield) Thompkins, both of Dublin three brothers, Andrew (Lyric) Carter of North Augusta, South Carolina, Ike (Liz) Carter of Decatur, and Jessie Carter of Dublin, sister-in-law, Lester (Rayford) Wardlaw, three brothers-in-law, Julius (Mary) Jones of Macon, Lilton Jones, Jr. and John P. Jones both of Dublin, one godbrother, Anthony Wesley, Sr, two devoted friends, Vickie Sims and Brenda Smith both of Dublin, and so many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and relatives and friends. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services for viewing. The family will receive visitation at 215 Irish Lane, Dublin, and Sunday from 6-8 pm at the Rice Hill Missionary Baptist Church,2706 Moores Station Road, Dublin. Services By Dudley Funeral Home
