Mr. Cuthbert Farmer, Jr., was born on December 1, 1939, in Port St. Joe, Florida, to the late Cuthbert Chauncey Farmer, Sr., and Gertrude Lofton Farmer. While still a lad, he joined the New Bethel AME Church in Port St. Joe.

He attended the public schools of Port St. Joe, Florida, where he graduated from Washington High School in 1959. Later he matriculated at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Florida, and at Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, Florida, from which he received the Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1965. In 1985, he earned the Master of Science degree in education from Fort Valley State University. He also earned a school administration certification at Georgia Southern University in 1992.

Because Mr. Farmer loved people and enjoyed teaching, his career in education spanned 40 years as he taught school in Port St. Joe, Florida, at Mary Fleming High School, Southwest Laurens Elementary School, West Laurens Middle School, Heart of Georgia Technical College, and Middle Georgia College's Dublin Center in Dublin, Georgia. He was an administrator at West Laurens Middle School. He coordinated the Adult Education Program for Laurens County for 27 years. During his education career, he maintained membership in the National Education Association, the Georgia Association of Educators, and the Laurens County Association of Educators.

In 1969, Mr. Farmer was united in holy matrimony to Martha Ann Brooker in Savannah, Georgia. This union produced two sons, Terrance Beryl and Brent Renard.

Mr. Farmer united with the St. Paul AME Church in Dublin where he was a faithful member and the president of the Usher Ministry. He took the ministry seriously and worked diligently to insure that ushering was a respectable church ministry. He was also a member of Landmark Lodge # 64. He served as chairman on the trustee board for many years and other capacities for many years

Around 8 o'clock in the morning on Thursday, March 28, 2013, Mr. Farmer's earthly mission was complete as the Lord called him home. He had fought a good fight and he had kept the faith. Preceding him in death were his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Cuthbert Chauncey Farmer, Sr., sister, Jewerline Farmer, and nephew, Keith Barlow.

Mr. Farmer will be especially remembered by his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Martha Brooker Farmer, Dublin, GA; sons, Terrance Beryl (Michaela) Farmer, Martinez, GA; Brent Renard (Monica) Farmer, Dublin, GA; siblings, Wellington Farmer, Harold (Diane) Farmer, Celestine Harvey, Mamie Hayes, all of Port St. Joe, FL; Juanita Faye (Charles) Rackley, Tallahassee, FL; adorable grandchildren, Ahmad, Kameron, Amani, Jaden, and Ashaud; brothers- and sisters-in law, Nathaniel (Charlotte) Brooker, Wilmington, DE; Lawrence (Bernice) Brooker, Orangeburg, SC; Hattie Chandler, North Augusta, SC; Marian Parker, Aiken, SC; and Louise Hayes, Washington, DC.
