Clarence Butler

Funeral services for Mr. Clarence Butler of Dublin will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 1:00 PM at the Reedy Springs Baptist Church, 930 Rentz-Dexter Road in Rentz. Interment will follow in the Drench Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Darrell V. Mitchell, Sr., will officiate.

Mr. Butler, who passed on March 27, 2014, was born on September 22, 1948, in Dodge County to the union of the late Mr. Joe and Mrs. Gertrude Gipson Butler. He was reared by his late aunt, Viola Gipson Ashley.

Mr. Butler was educated in Bleckley County Public School System. At an early age, he joined Drench Grove Baptist Church and was under watch care at Reedy Springs Baptist Church.

Mr. Butler was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lee Gipson Knight and Susie Mae Butler Ficklin; one brother, Willie Lee Butler; and his goddaughter, Joan Robinson.

He is survived by two devoted sisters, Wardine Robinson Barkley of Dublin, Marie (J.C.) Ellington of Miami, Florida; six nephews, Reverend Dr. Charlie Robinson, Dublin, Ulysses (Deondra) Gipson, Miami, Florida, Charles (Dee) Knight, Atlanta, James (Janine) Ellington of Bolivar, New York, Willie Joe Butler and Albert Butler of Macon; two nieces, Lourie Ellington, Miami, Florida and Cassandra (Eric) Lockey, Lawrenceville; aunts, Glady Gipson, Chester, Rozena Gooche, Eastman, Willie Mae Veal, New Jersey; one uncle, Nathan Butler, New Jersey; a special friend, Ms. Rosa Mae Slaughter-Smith and a host of couisns and friends.

The family will receive friends at 103 Green Springs Road in Dublin.
