Funeral services for Mr. C. J. Melton of Dublin will be held on Monday, October 29, at 10:00 AM at New Bible Believers Baptist Church, 204 Hillcrest Drive in Dublin. Interment will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. Reverend Benny Brantley will officiate. Mr. Melton was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina, on March 24, 1933, to the late John and Sarah White Melton. He attended the Onslow County Public Schools in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Mr. Melton was a Korean War Veteran of the U.S Army. He received a United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars, two overseas service medals and a Nations Defense Service Medal. He was an independent truck driver for Paul Arpin Van Lines for 20 years. He was also the owner of C.J. & Sons Trucking. Mr. Melton leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Bobbie Charles Melton; three daughters, Apostle Dr. Jannie (Walter) Brady, Perry, Angelia (Joel) Gray, Mount Olive, North Carolina and Cynthia Renee Melton, Raleigh, North Carolina; three sons, Dr. Mark (Lula) Melton, Durham, North Carolina, Eric (Christine) Melton, Dublin, and GySgt Cecil John (Tamika) Melton, Twentynine Palms, California; one God-daughter, Naomi King, Dublin; two God-sons, Jason (Lillie) King, Augusta, and Sgt. Michael Waters, Jr., Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; father-in-law, Hugo (Vera) Charles, Sr., Dublin; a special devoted aunt, Carolyn Brown of Dublin; four sisters-in-law to include one devoted sister-in-law, Eddie Jean King, JoAnn McBride, Faye McBride and Belinda (Michael) Waters, Sr. all of Dublin; six brothers-in-law, Hubert (Patricia) Charles, Hugo Charles, Jr., Murray Charles, Otha (Kery) Charles all of Dublin, Morris Charles, Atlanta and Earl Petteway, Amityville, LI, New York, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at 200 Woodlawn Drive Apt. 1A, and at 403 East Mary Street, Dublin, and at the Dudley Funeral Home on Sunday from 5-6 PM.
